143 Athletes Honored At Scholar-Athletes Academic Honors Reception
2012 SCHOLAR-ATHLETE ACADEMIC HONORS PHOTO GALLERY
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Approximately 143 student-athletes
across Saint Anselm College’s 20 NCAA Division II programs
were honored in the 2012 Scholar-Athlete Academic Honors Reception
held in the Dana Center for the Humanities Monday evening.
The ceremony, emceed by Interim Director of Athletics Tyler
Fleming, recognized student-athletes for their outstanding
academic accomplishment of achieving an overall grade point average
of 3.0 or higher or achieving a 3.0 or higher in the Spring or Fall
semesters of 2011.
Additionally, six scholar-athletes were recognized for their
academic and athletic excellence, ranking amongst the top
student-athletes in the country. Allyn Doyle
(Merrimack, N.H.), Caitlin Forbes (Hanover,
Maine), Maura Hurley (Holden, Mass.),
Jonathon O’Reilly (Plano, Texas),
Megan Sullivan (Braintree, Mass.) and
Brendan Timmons (Franklin, Mass.) all posted grade
point averages of 3.4 or higher to earn membership in Chi Alpha
Sigma, the National College Student-Athlete Honor Society.
Qualifying athletes become eligible during the junior year of
college.
Near the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Joseph
Catanese, the college’s outgoing Faculty Athletic
Representative, was honored and recognized for his contributions to
Saint Anselm College across the prior 25 years. He was issued
a plaque commemorating his many years of service to the college by
his colleague and close friend Joseph Horton,
Ed.D., the Vice President of Student Affairs.
