SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Senior Elizabeth Sears (Danvers, Mass.) and freshman Elizabeth Alie (Franklin, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College field hockey team garnered Northeast-10 All-Conference accolades, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
Sears was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team for the second straight year after starting all 17 games and leading the team in all three major scoring categories. She ranked ninth in the conference in goals (11), was tied for 15th in assists (6) and placed 10th in points (28), while her per-game averages of 1.65 points, 0.65 goals and 0.35 assists ranked her 20th, 21st and 32nd, respectively, in the nation.
Sears finished second all-time in program history in points (65), goals (24) and assists (17), falling just nine points, four goals and one assist shy of each career record.
Alie found a spot on the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team following a freshman campaign in which she helped anchor the Saint Anselm defense at center-back as she started all 17 contests. The Hawks' three shutouts during the season are tied for the second most in program history, while the 2.60 goals-against average ranks as the sixth best. The 45 goals the team allowed are the sixth fewest in a single season in school history and the fewest since the 2008 campaign.
For the second time in three years, the Hawks finished in a tie for the sixth and final playoff spot, but lost out on the tiebreaker.
