Bressler, Neyland named to Zag/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad

GILBERT, Ariz. – Junior Maddie Bressler and senior Katie Neyland of the Saint Anselm College field hockey team were named to the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Academic Squad on Thursday.

Over 415 student-athletes representing 30 schools have been selected to the team. To qualify, student-athletes must have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year.

A nursing major, Bressler has earned Dean's List recognition five separate times across her career and has earned placement on the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. She registered five goals and two assists for 12 points (5-2=12) and scored the game-winning goal against Southern Conn. St. in her first collegiate start on Sept. 30.

Majoring in criminal justice, Neyland is a seven-time Dean's List and NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Squad honoree. She started all 20 games at back for the Hawks in 2017, totaling two goals and two assists for six points, while helping her team to its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
