Men's Lax to Host First Annual Purple Ribbon Lacrosse Challenge

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team has announced their support of the Purple Ribbon Cause through their event, the First Annual Saint Anselm College Purple Ribbon Lacrosse Challenge.

On Sunday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. at Grappone Stadium the men's lacrosse team is set to host a lacrosse tournament featuring teams from Division II and Division III in order to raise money for cancer research and The Michelle Cadorette Fund for Malignant Thymoma Research. Cadorette was 1991 graduate of Saint Anselm.

Every spring there is a Purple Ribbon Mother's Day 5K Run, held in Bow, N.H., to raise money for the same cause. All money raised and given to the fund supports cancer research through funding of a tissue bank and the ability to pursue genetic testing at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. All proceeds from the lacrosse tournament will go to these same research methods.

Each team will play two 50-minute, running-clock games apiece (two 25-minute halves), with the schedule being as follows:

10 a.m.      Franklin Pierce vs. Clark

11 a.m.      Saint Anselm vs. Mount Ida

12 p.m.      Franklin Pierce vs. Mount Ida

1 p.m.        Saint Anselm vs. Clark

Admission for the event is $5 per person with all proceeds going directly to the cause. Raffle tickets will be available with prizes including a weekend away in Boston at the Liberty Hotel and Celtics tickets.
