BENNINGTON, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's skiing team held the Saint Anselm College Carnival over the weekend at Crotched Mountain, hosting nine other colleges and universities to compete and raise money for cancer awareness. The Hawks finished in fourth place for Saturday's slalom competition and moved to a fifth place overall finish for the giant slalom competition on Sunday.
In Saturday's race, Benjamin Roy (Belgrade, Maine) led all Hawks with a seventh place overall finish, clocking a time of 1:55.27. Just behind Roy, Eric Brandolini (Georges Mills, N.H.) registered a 1:56.47 – for a 12th place finish amongst all skiers.
Rounding out the qualifying times for Saint Anselm was Justin Redente (Morris, Conn.), who completed his first run with a time of 57.83 and his second with a time of 59.84 for a two-run total of 1:57.67.
Also in the top 40 of all skiers in the competition were Joseph Germaine (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Thomas Suglia (Andover, Mass.), who finished with times of 2:06.88 and 2:11.72, respectively.
Sunday, the Hawks ended the day in fifth place with a team total of 5:43.43. Roy finished first of all Hawks again on day two with a cumulative time of 1:53.08. Two seconds behind Roy and in 24th place overall was Redente with a time of 1:55.08.
The final qualifying time for the Hawks on day two came from Brandolini, who finished the day with a two-run total of 1:55.27- 25th place overall.
Germaine ended the day in 43rd place with a time of 2:00.97. Also competing for Saint Anselm was Andrew Overton (Woodbury, Conn.), who clocked a time of 2:01.06.
