Men’s Soccer Closes 2013 with 2-0 Defeat at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – A pair of second half goals from American International proved to be too much for the Saint Anselm College men's soccer team, who fell to the Yellow Jackets, 2-0, Friday evening at Abdow Field.

Saint Anselm will conclude its season at 2-14 overall and 1-12 in the Northeast-10 conference, while the Yellow Jackets now stand at 6-8-3 overall and 4-7-2 in the league.

Miguel Rodriguez sunk a penalty kick at 70:51 for the late one-goal lead in the game. Five minutes later, at 75:37, Tevonne Morris dribbled down the left side and crossed the ball to Greg Smedberg, who chipped the ball into the right side to make it a 2-0 game.

Saint Anselm senior goalkeeper Mark Kotsopoulos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) made six saves, while AIC's Jason Ryan was only forced to make two. The Yellow Jackets held a 17-7 shot advantage, along with an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

This wraps up the season for Saint Anselm and was the final game for seniors Bruno Dasilva (Rockland, Mass.), Matthew McQueeney (Hooksett, N.H.), Zach Wheeler (Derry, N.H.), Kevin Greene (Londonderry, N.H.), Michael Kearney (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Brian Ayers (North Potomac, Md.), George Lamptey (Worcester, Mass.), Drew Cooper (Portland, Conn.) and Kotsopoulos.
