MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's tennis team earned two doubles points but visiting Gordon College rallied with four singles victories to edge the Hawks 5-4 on Saturday at South Tennis Courts.
The pairs of Adam Weinstein and Daniel Kmetz and Brian Kavanagh and Alex Pearson gave Saint Anselm (2-4) an advantage going into singles. However, Gordon (2-1) picked up straight-set wins at the top-four singles flights to come away with the narrow victory.
With their doubles wins, the duos of Weinstein and Kmetz and Kavanagh and Pearson have each won three-straight matches. Weinstein and Kmetz earned an 8-6 victory at the second spot, while Kavanagh and Pearson won 8-5 at the third spot.
In singles, Harris came back from a set down to win a lengthy match at No. 5 singles by a 4-6, 7-5, 10-6 scoreline against Eric Kim. Page raced through the first set at No. 6 singles against Peter Godwin before claiming the second set in a tiebreaker for a 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) victory.
Harris and Page each extended their singles winning streaks to three matches. The Fighting Scots got singles victories from Mason Casady, Nate Lookwhy, Mike D'Antuono and Jonathan Frink at the top-four flights.
Saint Anselm hosts Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 3:30 p.m.
