Weinstein and Kavanagh win in doubles in loss to Bentley

ORLANDO, Fla.Adam Weinstein and Brian Kavanagh picked up a victory at No. 3 doubles for the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team in an 8-1 defeat to Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Thursday at Fort Gatlin Recreational Complex.

In their first-ever match as partners, Weinstein and Kavanagh defeated Nicholas Hatcher and Kendall Au by an 8-3 margin at third doubles for Saint Anselm (3-8, 0-3 NE10), which was playing in its final match in Orlando. Bentley (5-5, 1-0 NE10) won the other two doubles matches and got six straight-set singles victories to wrap up the conference win.

The doubles win was Weinstein's team-high sixth of the season, while Kavanagh recorded his fifth doubles victory this year.

The pairs of Brendan McCarthy and George Samander and Michael Fuca and Brett Gilman earned 8-1 victories at the top-two doubles spots for the Falcons. McCarthy, Dylan Granat, Chase Rosa, Fuca, Gilman and Hatcher were victorious in singles.

Saint Anselm returns to the Northeast to face Nichols on Saturday, March 11 in a 4 p.m. match at Pomfret School.
