Sam Hennequin won her fourth-straight start by allowing just one run on three hits with one walk and nine strikeouts as Saint Anselm (18-15, 16-8 NE10) took the opener to wrap up the No. 2 seed. After Assumption (19-17, 15-9 NE10) scored the game's first run in the fourth, the Hawks came back with single runs in the fourth and fifth and Hennequin took care of the rest.
The win moved Hennequin to 13-5 on the season and her 13 wins are the most by a Hawk in a single season since current assistant coach Tayla Trask was 16-7 in 2014.
Shannon Colson was the lone batter on either team with multiple hits in the opener, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Michaela Kane, Maggie Murphy and Shannon McLaughlin also recorded hits, with McLaughlin driving in a run as well.

The Hawks quickly got the run back in the bottom of the frame with a two-out rally of their own. Colson dropped a double into left field with two away and McLaughlin followed with a single to the same spot to score the freshman and tie the game at 1-1.
After Hennequin set the Greyhounds down in the top of the fifth, Saint Anselm scratched across the game-winning run in the home half. After a walk to Jordan O'Connor and a sacrifice bunt by Amanda Bickford, Kane delivered a single to leave runners on the corners with one away. With Maggie Murphy at the dish, Kane stole second and O'Connor came in to score after a wild throw down to third.
Assumption threatened to tie the game in the sixth, placing runners on the corners with two outs, but Hennequin got a foul pop out to Kane at third and went on to strike out two in a 1-2-3 seventh.
