WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Jackie Guy scored with 2:26 remaining in regulation to give the Saint Anselm College women's hockey team a 2-1 non-conference victory over Williams College on Friday evening at Chapman Rink.
With Saint Anselm (17-2-3) and Williams (10-10-2) locked at 1-1, Guy skated in from the middle of the right circle and scored her second of the year for the game-winning goal. After the goal, the Hawks kept the puck in the Ephs' zone and blocked Williams' lone shot with 26 seconds remaining to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games.
Maura Kieft assisted on both goals for the Hawks to extend her point streak to 10 consecutive games. The sophomore has registered at least one point in 16 of the last 17 games. Guy's goal was her fourth-career game-winner among her 10 career goals.
Saint Anselm got on the board first on a Martha Findley goal, her sixth of the season, at 12:44 of the opening period. Kieft gained control of the puck behind the net, found Meaghan Spurling in front and Spurling slid the puck across the crease to an open Findley for a tap in.
Williams evened the game early in the second period on a Chelsey Stevenson goal at 5:28 to leave the teams even at 1-1 after two periods.
For the game, Saint Anselm outshot Williams by a 42-16 margin. Christina Cleroux made 40 saves for the Ephs, while Maddie Scavotto made 15 saves to improve to 13-1-2 this season.
Saint Anselm returns home to Sullivan Arena for Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 11 for a 1 p.m. game against Saint Michael's. The Hawks will recognize their eight seniors on the ice prior to taking on the Purple Knights.
