SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Senior Meghan Smith (Pittsford, N.Y.) and freshmen Marissa Daly (Marshfield, Mass.) and Sarah Doherty (Franklin, Mass.) of the 15th-ranked Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team all earned end-of-the-year honors from the Northeast-10, the conference announced Thursday morning.
Smith earned the first All Northeast-10 First Team honor of her career after putting together an impressive season to cap a stellar career. Smith, who racked up 79 points on 67 goals and 12 assists, led the conference in goals and draw controls (110), and ranked fourth in points.
Smith, who shattered the program record for goals in a season and also toppled career goal and point marks this year, ranked third in the nation in goals per game (4.19), fifth in draw controls per game (6.88) and 12th in points per game (4.94).
Daly was named the conference's Rookie of the Year and also earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team after compiling one of the best resumes of any freshman to come through the program, totaling 59 points on 54 goals and five assists. Daly, who wound up two goals shy of matching Saint Anselm's rookie goals-scored record, ranked fifth in the conference in goals and 14th in points. Nationally, Daly placed 15th and 51st in those respective categories, including third and sixth, respectively, among all freshmen.
Doherty joined Daly on the All-Rookie Team as she notched 14 goals and three assists for 17 points, in addition to ranking 11th in the conference with 46 draw controls. Doherty also checked in at 69th, nationally, in draw controls per game (2.88).
