NORTH ANDOVER, N.H. – Shannon Douglas (Rochester, N.H.) led the Hawks with 14 kills and six digs as the Saint Anselm College volleyball team was victorious over Merrimack College, 3-2, Tuesday evening at Bert Hammel Court.
The Hawks won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-22, before dropping the next pair to the Warriors, 16-25 and 15-25. In the fifth set, the Hawks were losing 10-7 before they went on a 6-1 run – thanks to two Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) kills – pushing the set to 13-11. Lauren Oxley (Gainesville, Va.) hammered a pair of kills for the Hawks' 14th and 15th points, giving them the match.
Oxley tallied 11 kills alongside three digs, while Ouellet recorded nine kills in total for .571 hitting, paired with eight blocks.
Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) dished 46 assists along with five kills and five digs. Margaret Tereschuk (Mission Viejo, Calif.) posted 22 digs and a service ace, while Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) brought 18 digs and two aces to the table.
Holland McNabb (Huntington Beach, Calif.) recorded seven kills and three digs.
