MANCHESTER, N.H. – On March 20-21, the Saint Anselm College Department of Athletics held its inaugural #HawksSoarHigher Giving Challenge and, with the generous support of 1,688 donors, raised nearly $100,000 for its 20 teams.
As the featured sub-campaign of the College's annual Days of Giving, the Department of Athletics set a goal of 500 donors and reached that goal in roughly 22 hours. Nineteen of the department's 20 sports surpassed their individual donor goals and the campaign generated $94,644 that will go directly to program enhancements for the respective teams.
"This fundraising initiative was a resounding success and is a testament to what can be accomplished when we work together," remarked Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery. "A special thank you to the hundreds of Hawks student-athletes who worked with us on targeted outreach to family, friends and alumni."
The 1,688 total donors marked a 337% increase from the initial goal of 500, as students, family members, faculty/staff, friends, alumni and fans contributed to the campaign's success.
Women's soccer led the way with 261 donors, followed by softball (184), men's lacrosse (167) and women's lacrosse (165). Women's ice hockey (145), football (135) and baseball (113) were also in triple digits.
"Everyone within our athletics department should share in what I personally consider one of our greatest accomplishments in recent years," Montgomery added. "These results speak to the impact a vibrant and successful athletics program will continue to have for our College."
The College's overarching Days of Giving yielded record totals with more than $530,000 raised through nearly 3,000 donors in two days (those figures include the Athletics donors and dollars raised).
