MANCHESTER, N.H. – Spurred by the recent legacy gift commitment from former men's basketball student-athlete Chris M. Salamone, J.D., Class of 1984, Saint Anselm College will begin work during the summer of 2019 on a physical Hall of Fame construction project.

The new Athletics Hall of Fame will be a powerful motivational tool, one that reflects and sustains not only the rich tradition of Hawks Athletics, but also the core values upon which Saint Anselm College was founded. The role of the student-athlete is uniquely connected to the Hilltop experience and thus will be recognized within a creative, customized tribute area.
Plans and renderings for the space were unveiled on Jan. 26, 2019 to those gathered for the induction of the 2019 Saint Anselm Athletics Hall of Fame class.
"Fundraising efforts for the project are well underway," remarked Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery in front of a sold out group in attendance for the 2019 induction ceremony. "Led by the outstanding generosity of alum Chris Salamone, and his gift commitment of $100,000. In recognition of his gift, the Salamone Family Athletics Hall of Fame will be named and dedicated in his honor after construction is completed this summer."
The Hall of Fame construction project will include a complete facility upgrade of the current west lobby of Stoutenburgh Gymnasium, with the scope of work to include modern flooring, lighting, painting, glass, and custom display areas. Recent Hall of Fame inductees will be prominently featured as a focal point of the gallery within modules flanking an interactive, touchscreen tower.
Other elements of the project include a basketball tribute area as well as a dynamic Hawks Highlights gallery, both of which are available for naming recognition.
"The Salamone Family Athletic Hall of Fame Project will be an amazing tribute to athletics tradition and history on the Hilltop," said Jim Flanagan, Senior Vice President for College Advancement. "The College is grateful for Chris Salamone's lead gift which will serve as the foundation for this fundraising initiative."
The completion of the Hall of Fame project will coincide with several other College-funded improvements to Stoutenburgh Gymnasium, which was originally constructed in the late 1950's. New bleachers (upper and lower level), railings and accessible seating are scheduled for construction and installation in 2019.
The physical Hall of Fame exhibit will connect to the Roger and Francine Jean Student Center Complex, which opened in 2018. This custom-designed space will recognize more than 150 current Hall of Fame members and also pay tribute to decades of athletic success on the Hilltop.
Alumni, friends and benefactors who wish to contribute to this distinctive Hall of Fame fundraising project may choose from various recognition levels, with several naming opportunities also available.
