Athletics to conduct second-annual Days of Giving fundraising challenge

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Anselm College Department of Athletics launches its second two-day #HawksSoarHigher Giving Challenge on Wednesday with a goal of 1,000 gifts to Athletics on Apr. 4-5.

On these days, Athletics is asking the entire Anselmian community to participate in a global giving event by making a gift of any size. As part of the campaign, individuals can contribute to the Department of Athletics and its 18 varsity sports teams. Gifts can be earmarked specifically for individual teams, the General Athletics Fund (#HawksSoarHigher Fund) or the Salamone Hall of Fame Project.

"Saint Anselm athletics has an extremely devoted fan base that consists of alumni, family, parents, faculty, staff and student-athletes," remarked Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery. "Their passion for Hawks athletics is contagious and their support for our varsity sports teams is unparalleled. Through this Days of Giving campaign, we are confident that our fans will respond to the fundraising challenge in true Benedictine and Anselmian spirit."

Last year, the Hawks conducted its first-ever crowdfunding campaign for Saint Anselm Athletics through the College's GiveCampus platform. In lieu of a traditional "Phone-a-thon" or direct mailing campaign, the GiveCampus technology afforded fans of Hawks Athletics a modern way to support student-athletes in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence at their own convenience.

With the generous support of 1,688 donors in 2018, Hawks supporters raised more than $100,000 for Saint Anselm's varsity sports teams. As the featured sub-campaign of the College's annual Days of Giving, the Department of Athletics set a goal of 500 donors and reached that goal in roughly 22 hours. The campaign generated $94,644 that were earmarked to program enhancements for the respective teams.

Like last year, gifts made on Apr. 4-5 will be streamlined through the website and sport-specific fundraising goals will update automatically. Each team has brainstormed on where to use the raised funds - ideas include, but were not limited to, sport-specific equipment purchases and out-of-region competition trips.

The support of donors is critical to the success of the campaign. Fans of Hawks athletics are encouraged to help support the crowdfunding campaign with the College's Digital Toolkit along with the use of the customized hashtag, #HawksSoarHigher.
