#HawksSoarHigher Giving Challenge yields over 2,250 gifts, $116,500

MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the second consecutive year, supporters of Saint Anselm College student-athletes exceeded the target goal of the #HawksSoarHigher Fundraising Challenge. 2,265 donors raised more than $116,500, with 100% of funds raised to benefit Saint Anselm varsity sports teams.

As the featured sub-campaign of the College's annual Days of Giving, friends, family, faculty, staff and alumni were invited to participate in the challenge from Thursday, Apr. 4 to Friday, Apr. 5, with the goal of raising funds to improve and enhance the student-athlete experience on the Hilltop.

Through the campaign's first day, more than 700 gifts were received. In the final 24 hours, more than 1,500 donations came in, and Saint Anselm finished with 2,265 donations, surpassing last year's total of 1,688 individual gifts.

The Hawks football team led the way with 334 donations and raised over $8,400. Last year's top performer, Women's soccer, eclipsed 300 donations, finishing with $16,693 raised, with women's ice hockey (233), women's lacrosse (212), softball (183), baseball (153) and field hockey (151) yielding over 200% of their respective goals.

"Hawks student-athletes worked with our administrative team on targeted outreach across the two-day Days of Giving fundraising challenge and rose to the occasion," remarked Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery. "Many thanks to the hundreds of individuals, family members and Saint Anselm alumni that were proud to support the efforts of our student-athletes."

Monies raised will directly fund program enhancements for the respective teams. Several of the Hawks varsity sports programs have already earmarked funds toward several initiatives, including locker room improvements, new Under Armour apparel and foreign trips.

Saint Anselm's overall Days of Giving campaign raised $712,864 in total with gifts from 3,427 donors, a total which includes the 2,265 #HawksSoarHigher gifts.

"The efforts of our student-athletes are being recognized on a national level," said Montgomery. "The investments made by our passionate supporters will help the Hawks soar higher in the coming months and years, providing the student-athletes an experience that is truly transformational."
