Alyssa Van Patten is in her fourth year on the Saint Anselm athletic training staff in 2017-18 and assists in the daily operations of the athletic training room, including the prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for the field hockey, men's and women's cross country, women's ice hockey and men's lacrosse teams. Van Patten is the supervisor for all athletic training student workers and facilitates annual emergency situation planning meetings with Goffstown EMS and campus security.
Van Patten arrived on the Hilltop after spending a year as an assistant athletic trainer at Williams College, where she served as the Hunter Sports Medicine Intern. While at Williams, Van Patten oversaw the medical coverage for field hockey, women's ice hockey and women's lacrosse and JV football, in addition to being responsible for the scheduling and hiring of all athletic training student workers. On her own, Van Patten helped cover games for the Albany MetroMallers football team during their summer 2012 and 2013 seasons. She continues to help out local camps and clinics, such as the Granite State Games, Cavegirl Field Hockey, Caramba Soccer Camp, etc. in the Manchester area during her spare time.
Van Patten spent a year at Ithaca College in 2012-13 as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and handled all medical coverage for women's lacrosse and indoor track & field.
Prior to that, Van Patten was a certified athletic trainer and personal trainer at Sunnyview Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y., where she oversaw medical coverage in the fitness facility and provided personal training to individuals of all ages, including athletes, those with disabilities and those recovering from an injury or illness.
Van Patten served as an athletic training intern at Cornell University where she assisted in coverage with the Division I football team during the 2010-11 school year. She began her collegiate athletic training career as a student athletic trainer at SUNY Cortland in 2009-10, working primarily with softball, track and field and men's and women's lacrosse.
Van Patten is board certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and has her Athletic Training License in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York. Van Patten is an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (CPR and AED) and is a member of both the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (EATA).
The Manchester resident graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Cortland with a B.S. in athletic training and a biology minor in 2011. She went on to earn her MS in exercise science and sport psychology from Ithaca College in 2013.
