MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Performance and Operations Neil Duval announced Tuesday that Rob Herrick has been hired as the department’s first full-time Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Herrick is familiar with the Hilltop after having served as the Saint Anselm football program’s volunteer strength and conditioning coach during the 2013 season.
“We are extremely excited to add Rob Herrick and his diverse experience to the Saint Anselm athletic department staff,” Duval said. “Having a full-time strength and conditioning coach to work with our programs each day will assist our coaches in enhancing the student-athlete experience and provide another dimension to propel Saint Anselm athletics forward.”
After departing Saint Anselm, Herrick spent the 2014 season as the strength and conditioning coach for the Cincinnati Reds’ High-A Affiliate, the Bakersfield Blaze.
“I am very honored to join the Saint Anselm athletics family,” Herrick said. “The boundless potential of this fine institution and the new direction of the athletics department make it an exciting time to be a Hawk. I look forward to helping the dedicated student-athletes of Saint Anselm reach their athletic performance goals, as well as uphold and enhance the reputation of the college.”
Prior to his time with Saint Anselm, Herrick conducted an internship at Dartmouth College, where his primary work was with the football program. He also assisted with the strength and conditioning programs of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, skiing, and men’s soccer.
Herrick began his strength and conditioning career in 2011 as an intern at his alma mater, the United States Naval Academy. Herrick instructed weightlifting and physical education classes for perspective military officers, designed and implemented training programs for sailing and assisted with football, baseball, crew, wresting and women’s basketball.
A 2006 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he was a baseball pitcher, Herrick served on active duty in the United States Navy for over six years as a surface warfare officer. Herrick also possesses a Master’s of Sports Science (M.S.S.) Degree in Sports Fitness and Health from the United States Sports Academy.
Herrick’s certifications include Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), under the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sport Performance Coach.
