Katsikis, Schwabs Named Saint Anselm Student-Athletes of the Week

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Kristina Katsikis (Hanover, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College field hockey team, as well as sophomore Nick Schwab (Seaford, N.Y.) and freshman Chris Schwab (Seaford, N.Y.) of the men’s tennis team, were chosen as the Saint Anselm Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9.

Katsikis added to her career program records in goals, assists and points, as she racked up seven points on three goals and an assist. The Hanover, Mass., native tallied the only score of the game for the Hawks in a 3-1 loss at home against 10th-ranked Bentley University on Tuesday, before assisting on the Hawks’ lone goal in another 3-1 defeat at Stonehill College on Thursday. Katsikis then made sure the Hawks jumped into the win column Saturday, potting a pair of goals in a 5-2 win against American International College.

The Schwab brothers teamed up to capture the A-Flight Bracket Championship at the Stonehill Doubles Invitational on Saturday. The Seaford, N.Y., natives won the tournament’s top bracket with an 8-5 victory against Austin Stedman and Sam Jon of Eastern Nazarene University. The duo dispatched Ty Collins and Thomas Blatchford of Curry College, 8-0, in the quarterfinal round, before posting a 9-7 win against Eric Ringstad and Nick Hyzak of Stonehill in the semis.

Katsikis and the field hockey squad return to action Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. when they travel to take on Assumption College. The next home game for the team is Sunday, Sept. 16 at 11:30 a.m. when they play host to Bellarmine University at Grappone Stadium.

The Schwabs and the men’s tennis team are back in action Saturday, Sept. 15 at noon when they return to Stonehill to officially kick off their season against the Skyhawks. The team is back home Sunday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. to play host to Le Moyne College.
