Marculitis and McKeon post multi-hit days, but Rollins sinks Baseball

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team fell to Rollins College, 15-2, on Tuesday night in non-conference action in Winter Park, Fla.

John Marculitis went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Tyler McKeon was 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Hawks (1-6). Aaron Crandall added a 1-for-3 day with a run scored as well.

John Lavoie suffered the setback for the Hawks, allowing five runs – only one earned – on five hits in three innings of work. Elijah Fish tossed three innings as well, allowing five runs on six hits, while Max Hall gave up four runs on three hits in an inning of work. Zane Byrne closed out the game allowing a run on two hits while pitching the ninth inning.

Rollins jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings of play before adding five more runs over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take a 10-0 lead. The Tars (12-4) tacked on four more runs in the seventh before rounding out their scoring with one more run in the eighth.

The Hawks finally broke through in the top of the eighth as Marculitis led off the inning with a double and Aaron Crandall followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Jason Turner pinch hit was able to reach on an error by the third baseman that allowed Marculitis and Crandall to score for their only two runs of the game.

Saint Anselm is back in action tomorrow morning when they take on Bentley University at Alfond Stadium at 11 a.m.
