Ravens soar past Baseball, 6-0

RINDGE, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team served as the home team, but Franklin Pierce pulled out the 6-0 victory on their home field, as the Ravens defeated the Hawks on Wednesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action in Rindge, N.H.

The Hawks (10-27, 5-17 NE10) return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on cross town rival and #5-ranked Southern New Hampshire University at 3:30 p.m. at the SNHU Baseball Field. Franklin Pierce improves to 25-12 and 15-6 in conference games with the win.

Max Wadington went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, while Nick Bragole was 1-for-4. John Marculitis and Tyler McKeon also earned free passes for the Hawks.

Adam Krol dropped to 2-2 with the setback, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts in 7.1 innings. Zane Byrne allowed only one hit in 1.2 innings with a walk and two strikeouts.

Mike Lundin earned the win for the Ravens, allowing only one hit in six innings of work with two walks and three strikeouts. Tanner Bird gave up a hit in two innings with five strikeouts, while Ben Collincini struck out three in his one inning.

Anthony DeDona went 1-for-3 with a run and four RBI to lead the Franklin Pierce offense. John Friday went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Dylan Jones and Kyle Hood also had multi-hit days.

The Ravens struck first to open the game as they loaded the bases on a single by Dylan Jones, a double by John Friday and a walk to Stephen Octave in the top of the first. Franklin Pierce took advantage of an error to plate their first run, before a sacrifice fly from Anthony DeDona scored Friday to make it a 2-0 game.

Saint Anselm loaded the bases in the bottom of the second with John Marculitis drawing a walk and Jon McQuarrie reaching on an error to put runners on the corners. McQuarrie later stole second before Tyler McKeon loaded the bases with two outs in the inning, but the Hawks came away empty handed.

The Hawks threatened again in the bottom of the third as Matthew Flynn was hit by a pitch and Nick Bragole picked up Saint Anselm's first hit of the day with a single to left field. The duo advanced to scoring position on a groundout, but the threat ended there as the Ravens worked out of the jam.

Franklin Pierce added one more in the top of the sixth as Kyle Hood singled home Dalton Davis to put the Ravens in front 3-0. They scored three more times in the eighth on a three-run homer from DeDona to take a 6-0 advantage.

Wadington doubled in the eighth inning, but the Hawks were kept off the scoreboard in the final two frames.
