WORCESTER, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team was blanked by the host Greyhounds from Assumption College on Tuesday, falling by a 5-0 margin at Rocheleau Field.
Saint Anselm falls to 6-27 overall on the season, dipping to 2-16 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Assumption moves to 22-14 overall and to 10-8 versus league foes. Assumption scored a run in each of the first two innings and hung three runs in the home half of the seventh, blanking the Saint Anselm offense across nine innings. Greyhounds starter Mike Curtis fanned eight Hawks across seven innings before Patrick Harrington closed out the game with two scoreless innings of relief.
A leadoff single by Jake Hamel led to the first run of the day as a double to right-center field by Hunter Tralli drove in the first batter of the game. With two outs in the second inning, an RBI single to center field by Alex Richardson upped the Assumption lead to 2-0.
A three-run bottom of the seventh inning started off with a Hamel bunt single. Three RBI singles would follow, creating insurance down the stretch for the Greyhounds. First baseman Dillon Koster paced the Assumption offense as he collected four hits in as many at-bats.
