Cerio Feted as ECAC Special Teams Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Senior K/P Shea Cerio (Canastota, N.Y.) of the Saint Anselm College football team was selected as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Special Teams Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 4, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Cerio, who captured the first Northeast-10 Special Teams Player of the Week award of his career Monday, went a school-record 7-for-7 on extra points and also booted a career-long 33-yard field goal Saturday in a 52-45 victory at Seton Hill University. In addition to his kicking duties, Cerio punted five times to give him 184 career punts and the school record in that category. Two of those five punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, giving Cerio 14 on the season, which matches a program mark.

Cerio and the rest of the eighth-seeded Hawks return to the gridiron one final time during the 2012 season as they take on fifth-seeded Merrimack College in a Northeast-10 Championship Weekend matchup Saturday, Nov. 10 (1 p.m.) at Martone-Mejail Field.
