Football releases schedule for 20th modern-day season

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Head Coach Joe Adam of the Saint Anselm College football team revealed the team's schedule for the upcoming 2018 season, the 20th season of modern-day football on the Hilltop, on Tuesday. The Hawks played their first modern-day varsity games in the 1999 season following a 58-year hiatus.

2018 Schedule

In 2018, the Hawks will play a nine-game schedule, all against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Saint Anselm will play host to two night games, the first at Grappone Stadium since the 2013 football season. Admittance to home football games is $5.00 for general admission while Saint Anselm students, faculty, staff and children are free of charge with valid identification.

"This season marks a special one for our program as it celebrates the 20th year since football returned to Saint Anselm College," said Adam. "We have had a great offseason and our younger student-athletes who played last year have another season under their belt. Every decision and action within our program is approached with a championship mindset. I look forward to our brotherhood taking another step together in one of the top conferences in Division II football."

Saint Anselm begins its 20th modern-day season by welcoming Stonehill to the Hilltop for a showdown under the lights on Saturday, Sept. 8. The Hawks and Skyhawks will meet in the 14th annual "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk" at 6 p.m. at Grappone Stadium.

The Hawks hit the road for the first time in 2018 with a trip to Worcester, Mass. on Friday, Sept. 14 to face-off against Assumption, who made it to the NCAA Quarterfinals last season. The team returns to the Hilltop on Saturday, Sept. 22, hosting American International during Homecoming Weekend. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.

Back-to-back road games against Southern Connecticut State (Saturday, Sept. 29) and LIU Post (Saturday, Oct. 13) will sandwich the team's bye week during the first week of October. Merrimack invades the Queen City on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 12 p.m. and Bentley will tangle with the Hawks on Saturday, Oct. 27 under the lights at 6 p.m.

A 1 p.m. road game at New Haven on Saturday, Nov. 3 breaks up a stretch where the Hawks will play three of their final four games at home. Saint Anselm will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 10 against Pace, who the Hawks defeated by a 35-34 margin on the road last season.

For the second-straight season, the Northeast-10 Conference affords each school a bye week during the first weekend of October in lieu of the NE10 Championship Weekend that was traditionally held in mid-November.
