WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Tim Guers of the Saint Anselm College men's basketball team was named to the 2017-18 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association Division II Men's Basketball All-East Region Team on Monday.
Formerly called the Daktronics All-East Region team, Guers picks up CCA First Team honors for the second-consecutive season. Earlier this season, he was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year to become the seventh Player of the Year honoree from Saint Anselm in conference history.
A stellar third-year campaign for Guers propelled him into the program's top-10 list for all-time career point scorers. He posted 666 points in 2017-18, giving him 1,649 across a career that has spanned 91 games to date. His single-season mark of 666 points this year is the second-most in a season, trailing only Chris Madigan's '90 705 points scored in 1990.
Averaging 21.5 points per game this season, Guers finished the year with double-digit point scoring totals in 29 of the season's 31 games. Ranking fourth in the NE10 in points per game (21.5) and rebounds per game (7.4), Guers has also tallied 5.5 assists per game to rank fifth in the league after tallying seven or more assists in 12 games on the season.
As of the most recent NCAA Division II national statistical rankings, Guers ranked seventh nationally in minutes played, ninth in field goals attempted and 10th in minutes played per game. He scored the 13th-most points in the division and his then-21.9 points per game was the 24th best figure in the nation. His 41-point performance earlier in the season against Adelphi ranks him within the top-30 in NCAA Division II in single-game points leaders in 2017-18.
Guers, a native of Langhorne, Pa., scored his 1,000th career point on Nov. 11, 2017 against Concordia (N.Y.) and has recorded 20-plus points in a game in 33 of his 91 career games. His 18.1 career points per game is 10th in team history (min. 20 games).
