KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior Tim Guers of the Saint Anselm College men's basketball team was announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as a Division II All-America selection on Monday.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, Guers joined 15 other student-athletes on the All-America roster, representing the finest men's basketball players across NCAA Division II. Guers becomes only the fifth student-athlete in team history to earn NABC All-America distinction.
The NABC All-District teams recognize the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes in the division. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division II, Guers and 87 other student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America.
Last week, Guers was named All-Region by both the Conference Commissioner's Association and the NABC. By collecting NABC All-District recognition, he became his team's first two-time NABC All-Region selection since the program's all-time leading scorer, Matt Cahill '06, accomplished the feat in 2003-04 and 2005-06.
Guers was also selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year on Feb. 26, becoming the seventh Player of the Year honoree from Saint Anselm in conference history.
A stellar third-year campaign for Guers propelled him into the program's top-10 list for all-time career point scorers. He posted 666 points in 2017-18, giving him 1,649 across a career that has spanned 91 games to date. His single-season mark of 666 points this year is the second-most in a season, trailing only Chris Madigan's '90 705 points scored in 1990.
Averaging 21.5 points per game this season, Guers finished the year with double-digit point scoring totals in 29 of the season's 31 games. Ranking fourth in the NE10 in points per game (21.5) and rebounds per game (7.4), Guers has also tallied 5.5 assists per game to rank fifth in the league after tallying seven or more assists in 12 games on the season.
As of Mar. 15, Guers is ranked eighth nationally in minutes per game (37.9) and ninth in minutes played (1,176). His 666 total points on the season ranks as the 16th-most scored by an NCAA Division II player and his 232 field goals made is 20th in the nation. Guers has handed out 170 total assists on the season, the 28th-best figure.
His 41-point performance earlier in the season against Adelphi ranks him within the top-30 in NCAA Division II in single-game points leaders in 2017-18.
Guers, a native of Langhorne, Pa., scored his 1,000th career point on Nov. 11, 2017 against Concordia (N.Y.) and has recorded 20-plus points in a game in 33 of his 91 career games. His 18.1 career points per game is 10th in team history (min. 20 games).
