ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior Tim Guers (Langhorne, Pa.) of the Saint Anselm College men's basketball team picked up Third Team All-America honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association on Tuesday.
Guers recently concluded a stellar senior season on the Hilltop with NABC All-America honors for the second consecutive year.
Saint Anselm, winners of the East Region, capped a wildly-successful campaign with a 26-6 overall record after falling to undefeated Northwest Missouri State (37-0), the nation's top-ranked team, on Thursday.
Guers, the reigning two-time NE10 Player of the Year, wrapped up a historic career at Saint Anselm with 23 points in the loss to the Bearcats only one game after powering the Hawks past Nova Southeastern in the Elite Eight quarterfinals, pouring home 31 points.
He exits as the program's all-time leader in point scoring (2,327), field goals made (799), defensive rebounds (657) and minutes played (4,388). He finishes as the second leading scorer in NE10 history, moving past James Hector of American International (1990-94) in the league's record book.
As a senior, Guers averaged 21.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game across 31 games. Named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2019 NCAA Division II East Regional, Guers capped the three-game home stand with 17 points per game, falling just shy of a double-double with 9.7 rebounds per game and a team-best 17 assists.
Guers stands as the only Hawks student-athlete ever to rank in the top-10 in career points (2,327), overall rebounds (808) and assists (521). He finishes ranked second in career free throws made (485), second in career games played (122), third all-time in career points per game (19.1), seventh in overall rebounding (808), seventh in assists (521), ninth in career three-point baskets (244) and 10th in blocked shots (56).
A two-time Northeast-10 Player of the Year recipient, the three-time First Team All-Northeast-10 Conference selection has scored at least 20 points in 22 of his 31 games played as a senior. He logged 55 career games where he scored at least 20 points while tallying nine double-doubles as a senior.
Guers became only the seventh student-athlete in league history to earn Player of the Year honors twice and the first since the 2012-13 season. Additionally, Guers is one of only 14 student-athletes in conference history to earn three career First Team All-Conference selections.
Guers entered the Elite Eight with 37.9 minutes played per game, the second-most minutes played in the NE10 and was ranked 11th in NCAA Division II in minutes played. He played more than 38 minutes in a game on 24 occasions this season and finished his career with 10 consecutive games playing at least 38 minutes.
As a senior, Guers has earned placement on the Bevo Francis Award watch list, D2CCA First Team All-Region and Preseason All-America honors from Street & Smith's Magazine. He was also a "Super 16" Preseason Pick by the Division II Bulletin.
