MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Saint Anselm College men's golf team wrapped up play at the 2018 Bash at the Beach Tournament, held at The Surf Golf and Beach Club on Monday and Tuesday. The Hawks finished in ninth place out of nine teams, carding a collective +123 over par (975).
Junior Stephen Hunt finished in a tie for 31st place, finishing strong with a two-under 69. On the back nine, Hunt carded four birdies and was at par for four other holes, bogeying the par-three 18th hole. He jumped 13 spots with a strong finish to the two-day tournament.
Freshman Alec Brunelle dropped one spot to 51st with a plus-seven 78 in his third round of competition, his lowest 18-hole round of the tournament. Senior Nick Carter equaled his first round, shooting an 83 on Tuesday to finish in 53rd place.
Sophomore Austin Coyne finished in 56th place (261, +48) while classmate Patrick McLoughlin turned in a score of 89 on Tuesday, saving his best round for last – he finished in 58th place in the field.
Newberry's Carlos Leandro and Charleston Southern's Jacques Wilson shared medalist honors, finishing with a six-under 207 through the three-round tournament. Wilson produced a score of 67 in the third and final round on Tuesday, drawing him even with Monday's leader, Leandro, who shot a 71 on the final day of competition.
