INDIANAPOLIS – Junior Stephen Hunt of the Saint Anselm College men's golf team has been selected for the second-straight season to participate in the regional competition of the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship. Hunt will represent Saint Anselm at the three-day tournament to be conducted starting on Monday, May 7 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W. Va.
As one of only eight independent golfers, Hunt will compete against 10 complete teams from the East and Atlantic Regions – the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Finals will take place May 21-25 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Hunt has recorded strong performances throughout the season for the Hawks, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017. Across his first five events of the season, Hunt finished no lower than sixth place as an individual.
Last season at the NCAA Regional, Hunt placed seventh out of 107 golfers and finished his third round with a 70 (-2) while carding five birdies.
Southern New Hampshire, Le Moyne, Bentley and Franklin Pierce will represent the Northeast-10 Conference while Hunt, American International's Robert Libiszewski and Assumption's James Elliott will compete as individual representatives from their schools.
