SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Alec Brunelle (Salem, N.H.) and freshman Eddie Morin (East Longmeadow, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College men's golf team led the Hawks to a sixth place finish to conclude the opening day of competition at the American International College Invitational.
The Hawks sit in sixth place out of 10 teams, carding a combined 314 (+26) through the par-72 course. Saint Anselm will return to action Sunday, Sept. 23 to conclude play at the two-day invitational.
Brunelle and Morin each shot a first-round 75 (+3) with the latter doing so in his collegiate debut for the Hawks. Freshman Peter Hudner (Canton, Mass.) turned in a score of 81 for Saint Anselm with classmates James Henry (Reading, Mass.) and Jared Carr (Milton, Mass.) producing first-day scores of 83 and 87, respectively.
Saint Thomas Aquinas leads with a team score of 296 (+8) through the first day of competition. Bentley's Tommy Ethier is three-under 69 through the first 18 holes at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course.
