ENDICOTT, N.Y. – Through the first day of competition at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, the Saint Anselm College men's golf team sits in seventh place out of 10 programs.
Saint Anselm is a combined 19-over par, shooting 307 as a team through the first day at the En-Joie Golf Club. The Hawks conclude the two-day championship on Monday, Oct. 1.
Senior Billy Argus (Canton, Mass.) led the Hawks with a one-over 73, tying for eighth place entering the second round of play on Monday. He posted 15 pars through his first 18 holes, tying for second among the field in that statistic, and birdied the par-five eighth hole.
Senior Stephen Hunt (Wilbraham, Mass.) was even through the first three holes but finished the first 18 holes with a four-over 76, recording back to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. Sophomore Alec Brunelle (Salem, N.H.) rounded out the three Hawks with NE10 Championship experience, carding a 78 (+6).
Freshman Eddie Morin (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was two-over through the first seven holes on Sunday but completed the day with an eight-over 80. Classmate James Henry (Reading, Mass.) was the fifth golfer for Saint Anselm, posting eight pars and finishing with an 83.
Southern New Hampshire leads the 10-team field, finishing two-under par (286) while Bentley was even with a 288, placing second. SNHU's Matt Paradis was six-under through 18 holes, posting a 66.
