SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Stephen Hunt (Wilbraham, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College men's golf team saw his name on the top-20 leaderboard after the first round at the Mike Bello Invitational on Thursday.
Hunt and the Hawks combined to shoot a 317, 33-over, to place in a tie for ninth out of 12 programs. Saint Anselm will return to action Friday, Apr. 12, wrapping up play at the two-day invite.
Hunt carded a four-over 75, tying for 11th place in the field of 72 golfers. The 75 was his lowest opening-round score of the season. Senior Billy Argus (Canton, Mass.) produced a six-over 77 and was followed by sophomore Alec Brunelle (Salem, N.H.) and his 11-over 82.
Senior Jack Dowding (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished with an 83 and freshman Will Strauss (Duxbury, Mass.), making his first appearance for the Hawks since the Penmen Fall Invitational on Sept. 17, 2018, turned in a score of 97.
