MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Shane Joyce (Pembroke, Mass.) was honored as the Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, for the week ending Feb. 1.
Joyce split last weekend's slate against ECAC East rivals Saint Michael's and No. 1 Norwich, moving to 6-8-2 in his season starts. Against the Purple Knights, he tallied 17 saves on 18 shots, then added 30 saves against the top-ranked team in Division III hockey while giving up just two goals.
For the weekend, he tallied a save percentage of .940 and a goals-against average of 1.51, both better than his overall season average.
It is the third NE-10 Goaltender of the Week honor for Joyce, who has also been named Rookie of the Week twice this season.
Saint Anselm will return to NE-10 league action Tuesday with a Queen City Cup matchup at Southern New Hampshire. The Hawks will then take on New England College in another regional rivalry game in Henniker on Friday evening, as the second half of a double-header with the women's program.
