DANBURY, Conn. – Senior forward Ryan Donovan (Bridgewater, Mass.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference East Men's Hockey Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday evening, for the week ending February 8.
Donovan led Saint Anselm offensively to a pair of thrilling victories on the week. In a bizarre 4-2 win against crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire that took nearly 24 hours to complete, Donovan scored the Hawks' two opening goals—both on power play chances—then assisted on the game-winner to keep Saint Anselm in the race for an NE-10 tournament host seed. He followed up that season-high performance with another assist in a 4-3 overtime win over New England College as the Hawks completed the season sweep of the Pilgrims. The four-point weekend brought Donovan to four goals and two assists on the season.
Donovan earned his first career midseason league honor, sharing the latest ECAC East Player of the Week award with UMass-Boston junior forward Connor McStravick. He also joins classmate Sean Jenkins (Boston, Mass.), who earned the same distinction back on Nov. 16.
Saint Anselm will begin a challenging three-game homestand prime with playoff implications. Tuesday, the Hawks host Northeast-10 unbeaten Stonehill with a host seed on the line, before welcoming Univ. of New England and Southern Maine on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
