MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference announced freshman goaltender Shane Joyce (Pembroke, Mass.) as its Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning, for the week ending Feb. 8.
Joyce, who picks up his third NE-10 Rookie of the Week award of the season, stopped 20 shots in a 4-2 win over Southern New Hampshire that included a burst pipe, a flooded locker room and two different venues. In a hostile environment on the road Friday, Joyce added a 22-save performance in a 4-3 overtime win at New England College, amassing a save percentage of .893. The pair of wins evened his season record to 8-8-2, giving up just over two goals over the past four games.
It is the third NE-10 Rookie of the Week award this season for Joyce, who earned the same distinction on Dec. 16 and Jan. 20. Joyce was also named NE-10 Goaltender of the Week on Dec. 16, Jan. 13 and last week, Feb. 1.
Saint Anselm will have a busy final week of the regular season this week, hosting Stonehill Tuesday evening at Sullivan Arena for the right to host the first round of the NE-10 Championship tournament. Friday and Saturday, the Hawks will conclude its ECAC East slate by hosting Southern Maine and Univeristy of New England, respectively.
