MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team had five student-athletes earn postseason recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference as the league announced its All-Conference teams on Friday.
Juniors Dave Almeida (Bristol, R.I.), Mike Ferraro (Northbridge, Mass.), Liam O'Sullivan (North Hampton, N.H.) and Sean Verrier (Reading, Mass.) all earned Second-Team honors while freshman Anthony Iacullo (Barrington, Ill.) landed on the All-Rookie Team.
For Almeida, this is his second selection from the NE10 as he was named to the league's All-Rookie team in 2017. He was one of three student-athletes that played in all 29 games during the regular season, finishing the year with 11 points on four goals and seven assists (4-7=11). He had four multi-point games, including a two-goal performance during a 5-1 win over Assumption on Nov. 10.
Ferraro is making his third appearance on the NE10 All-Conference teams. He was on the All-Rookie team in 2016-17 and earned First Team honors last season. This year, Ferraro led the team in goals with 13 and was in a two-way tie for second on the team with 18 points to wrap up the regular season. He had three game-winning goals and four power play tallies, leading the NE10 in overall goal scoring. Ferraro's longest point streak was four games, where he had five points (3-2=5) from Jan. 5 to Jan. 18. He was also a two-time NE10 Player of the Week selection.
O'Sullivan played in 28 games during the 2018-19 season, posting a pair of goals and a team-high 14 assists, which was also the third-most in the conference. He had three multi-point games on the year and also had a four-game point streak from Dec. 7 to Jan. 5, compiling a goal and five helpers.
Verrier had a career year during his junior season, posting season-bests in goals, assists and points. His 21 points led the team while he was in a tie for second on the team with 10 goals. His 11 assists were third-most on the team. He had seven multi-point contests, including a three-point game (1-2=3) during a 4-3 win over Stonehill on Jan. 29. Verrier also had two game-winning goals for the Hawks and was named NE10 Player of the Week once.
Iacullo played in 27 games for the Hawks in his rookie season. His 18 points was tied for second-most on the team and he was one of three student-athletes with 10 assists. Iacullo finished the regular season with four multi-point games, including a pair of three-point performances. One of those was during a 5-2 win over Stonehill on Jan. 12, 2019 where he had the game-winning goal along with two assists (1-2=3). He also had three points during a 5-3 win over Saint Michael's on Feb. 1, with a pair of tallies and one an assist.
The Hawks, who earned the top seed in the upcoming NE10 Championship Tournament, will host Assumption at 1 p.m. in a semifinal game on Saturday at Sullivan Arena.
