MANSFIELD, Mass. – Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey junior Dave Almeida (Bristol, R.I.) earned Northeast-10 Conference Winter Academic All-Conference honors, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Almeida, a business major at Saint Anselm, received the honor for the first time in his career. He was one of 72 student-athletes from the conference who garnered the recognition.
To be eligible for selection to the NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have started in at least half of or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions and achieve a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or higher.
He finished this season after playing in all 31 games for the Hawks, tallying four goals and nine assists for 13 points (4-9=13). He had a two-point game, scoring his first-career goal while adding an assist during a 5-4 win over Southern New Hampshire on Nov. 9. He also scored a goal and had a helper during a 6-4 win against Manhattanville on Jan. 4.
Almeida assisted on the game-tying goal during the Hawks' thrilling 2-1 triple overtime win over Assumption in the conference semifinals on Feb. 23 and was named All-Conference Second Team following the season. He has appeared in 79 games for the Hawks across a three-year career, scoring four goals and 11 assists for 15 points (4-11=15).
Almeida and the men's ice hockey program made it to the conference finals for the second consecutive year and clinched their third-straight regular season title, and 14th all-time in head coach Larry Rocha's '79 first season at the helm.
