Men's ice hockey falls to nationally-ranked Trinity, 4-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team suffered a 4-1 non-conference loss on Sunday afternoon to Trinity (Conn.) College at Sullivan Arena in the final contest of the Saint Anselm College Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Hawks drop to 6-4-1 on the year while the Bantams, ranked fifth in NCAA Division III by USCHO.com, remain undefeated and improve to 7-0-0. The Hawks will remain at home for their next contest as they host Assumption on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

Both teams fired 12 shots each in the first period but neither squad converted on any chances heading into the first intermission.

The Bantams rattled off three straight goals in the second period, opening up a lead that would not be relinquished. Junior Matt Chisholm (Scituate, Mass.) responded and cut the margin down to one with a goal of his own at 17:33, getting the Hawks on the board heading into the third period.

Dylan Healey clinched the win for the Bantams with an empty net goal at 18:49 of the third period.

Goaltender Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) recorded 35 saves, one stop away from tying his career-high. Samuel Kany earned the win for Trinity, stopping 27 of his 28 shots faced. Despite trailing by one shot at the end of the second period, the Bantams finished with a 39-28 advantage.

Senior Mike Ferraro (Northbridge, Mass.) led the squad in faceoff wins with eight.
