Manchester, N.H. -- Saint Anselm senior Kevin DeBenedetto (Reading, Mass.) has been honored as a member of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American Second Team, as announced on Monday afternoon. DeBenedetto is the first All-American in Saint Anselm men's lacrosse history.
In addition to All-American honors, he has previously been named as the NEILA Division 2 Player of the year and a First Team All-New England selection, making him the first four-time All-New England selection in Saint Anselm history. He was also named as the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team Northeast-10 All-Conference selection after leading the team with 72 ground balls and 54 caused turnovers this season. DeBenedetto is just the second First Team All-Northeast-10 player in school history and is the first Defensive Player of the Year in the program’s history.
In addition to his playing honors, DeBenedetto has also been named as one of two NEILA All-New England Scholar-Athletes for the 2010 season. DeBenedetto, the Saint Anselm Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Student-Athlete Honor Society, and is majoring in international relations at Saint Anselm.
