MANCHESTER, N.H. – Anthony Busconi '19, a recent graduate of Saint Anselm College and a four-year member of the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team, earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on Thursday.
Busconi, a native of Watertown, Mass., becomes the first student-athlete to be recognized by the USILA across two seasons. Last year, he was a Second Team All-America midfielder and as a senior, Busconi has earned First Team All-New England honors from the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) and was a First Team All-League selection by the Northeast-10 Conference. He was a First Team NEILA Preseason All-America pick prior to the season.
He capped his senior season ranked second on the team with 38 points off of 28 goals and 10 assists (28-10=38), tallying at least one goal in all but one of his games as a senior. Scoring four goals in a game on two occasions, Busconi capped a solid career with a 12-game point scoring streak and finished the year ranked 13th in the Northeast-10 Conference in goals per game.
Busconi concluded his career riding an active 12-game point streak and scored a season-high six points via four goals and two assists against Saint Rose on Senior Day. He was one of three nominees for the Saint Anselm "Hawks Soar Higher" Male Student-Athlete of the Year award at the College's end-of-year athletics banquet.
Busconi departed with 135 career points (92-43=135), the eighth most in program history. His 92 goals as the sixth-most in team history and his 43 assists are the eighth-highest total. His 2.93 points per game is the sixth-most in program history.
Off the field, Busconi earned the prestigious Thomas A. Melucci, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, awarded annually to incoming seniors who have "demonstrated significant siritual and personal growth" during their time at Saint Anselm. He is also an active participant in Relay for Life and the Walk-a-Mile in Her Shoes event.
