Men’s Skiing Places Third, Fourth at Whiteface

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's skiing team raced to a both a third place and fourth place finish over the weekend as they participated in a pair of giant slalom races at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y.

In Saturday's GS race the Hawks were led by junior Eric Brandolini (Georges, Mills, N.H.), who completed the race with a time of 1:44.80, for an eighth place overall finish. Landing back-to-back in 11th and 12th place were senior Ben Roy (Belgrade, Maine) and freshman Erick Robicsek, who finished with times of 1:46.58 and 1:46.70. 

Freshman Stephen McLeod (Chelmsford, Mass.) clocked a time of 1:50.64 – 24th overall, while Alexander Gowen (Falmouth, Maine) registered a time of 1:52.33 – 30th overall. Also competing for the Hawks were freshman Nick Papsadora, who finished with a time of 1:55.82 (34th overall), senior Christopher Genter (Brentwood, N.H.), who clocked a 2:07.66 (41st overall) and freshman Alvaro Polo (Pozuelo, Madrid), who ended up with time of 2:08.24 (42nd place).

During Sunday's giant slalom competition, Brandolini once again led the Hawks with a total time of 1:44.22, finishing with a 50.98 on his first run and a 53.24 on his second. Finishing 13th overall and second for the Hawks was Roy, who clocked a 1:44.58.

Robicsek found himself in 18th place with a two-run total of 1:46.03, while McLeod recorded a 1:47.51. Sophomore Andrew Overton (Woodbury, Conn.) finished in 28th place with a 1:48.31, while Gowen skied to a time of 1:49.60.

Papsadora and Polo finished in 46th and 52nd, respectively, with times of 1:55.32 and 2:02.15. Rounding out the competition for the Hawks on the second day was sophomore Luke Robbins (Campton, N.H.), who recorded a time of 2:06.26.
