Men's skiing fourth, women sixth in slalom at Okemo Mountain

LUDLOW, Vt. – In their first races of the season, the Saint Anselm College men's and women's skiing teams finished fourth and sixth, respectively, at the University of Connecticut Carnival slalom at Okemo Mountain on Thursday.

The men finished fourth of nine teams with a team time of 8:15.00, which was 16.07 seconds behind first-place Clarkson. Saint Anselm had three of the top-20 finishers, led by Benji Page's 10th-place finish with a time of 1:35.75 over the two runs. Freshman Luke Heald was right behind Page, coming in 11th in (1:35.92), while Alex Gowen placed 18th (1:37.60). Stephen McLeod was also in the top 25, finishing 23rd (1:38.33).

On the women's side, the Hawks placed sixth of 10 teams with a combined time of 7:36.11, which was 25.57 seconds behind fifth-place Clarkson. Leika Scott was the top finisher for Saint Anselm, finishing 15th with a two-run time of 1:46.69, which included the ninth-fastest first-run time (51.23). She was followed by Jill Murray in 26th (1:50.63) and Emily Mason in 39th (1:59.33). Taylor Cudhea and Katharine Graham placed 40th and 41st, respectively.

Saint Anselm finishes the meet with the giant slalom on Friday, Jan. 13.
