LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's and women's skiing teams each finished sixth on day two of the giant slalom at the Clarkson Carnival held at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday.
The men finished 19.25 seconds behind first-place Clarkson with a time of 6:42.31. The Hawks were led by Alex Gowen, who posted his best placement of the season by finishing sixth in 2:08.47.
Luke Heald recorded his second-best finish of the season, coming in 18th position with a time of 2:10.93. Michael Mullaney was 27th (2:22.91) and Alex Conrad finished 30th (2:24.54) for Saint Anselm, with Mullaney's placement matching the best of his collegiate career.
On the women's side, the Hawks posted a team total time of 6:57.08, which was 24.15 seconds behind first-place Brown. Jill Murray was the top finisher for Saint Anselm, as she placed 11th overall for the second-straight day with a time of 2:14.62.
Leika Scott put together her fourth top-20 showing in six races this season by finishing in 16th position with a time of 2:18.53. Katherine Quinn finished 21st in 2:23.93 for the second-best finish of her collegiate career.
Taylor Cudhea and Katharine Graham also both were inside the top-30 finishers. Cudhea came in 25th (2:25.88), while Graham was 29th (2:28.49). Emily Mason rounded out the Saint Anselm finishers by finishing 32nd (2:28.49).
The Hawks hosts the Saint Anselm Carnival at Crotched Mountain in Bennington, N.H. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4-5.
