DANBURY, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's skiing team finished fourth and the men fifth in the giant slalom at Ragged Mountain on Sunday, with seniors Benji Page and Leika Scott leading the way for their respective teams.
After a third-place finish in the slalom at Pat's Peak the previous day, the women came in fourth in the 10-team field with 29 points. The men placed fifth with 33 points, with both teams about 12 seconds behind the teams finishing a place above them.
Scott, who was sixth overall at Pat's Peak on Saturday, came in 11th at Ragged Mountain to lead the Hawks with a time of 2:09.75, improving over five seconds on her second run. Taylor Cudhea and Katherine Quinn also placed in the top-25, as Cudhea was 21st (2:12.59) and Quinn was 25th (2:13.16). Freshman Becca Stephens put together the best finish of her young career, finishing 33rd (2:14.48).
For the men, Page again paced Saint Anselm with a 21st-place finish with a time of 2:01.75. Sophomore Luke Heald was not far behind Page, placing 23rd in 2:02.68. Alex Conrad and Joe Wirth rounded out the finishers in 41st and 46th, respectively.
Next weekend, Saint Anselm heads to Lake Placid, N.Y. for a pair of giant slalom races at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 27-28.
