ALBANY, N.Y.– The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team recorded a 2-0 loss to the host Golden Knights from the College of Saint Rose on Saturday.
The Hawks fall to 0-4 overall and to 0-2 against Northeast-10 Conference foes. Saint Rose moves to 5-0 (2-0 NE10) with the shutout victory. Saint Anselm hosts Saint Michael's on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. on the grass at Melucci Field.
After 70 scoreless minutes by both programs, Wari Isaac put the Golden Knights ahead for good with his first goal of the season. Adekitan Taiwo would also notch his first goal of the season 5:59 later, creating a two-goal advantage that could not be overcome by the Hawks.
Saint Rose outshot the Hawks, 15-8, and had nine of the game's 10 corner kicks. Junior Nick Heckt (South Windsor, Conn.) fired a team-leading three shots in the losing effort.
Hawks netminder Jacob Rostkowski (Rockport, Mass.), who kept Saint Rose off the board with a penalty kick save at 25:11, remains in search of his first victory of the year, making seven saves on nine shots through regulation. Gianni Carillo remains undefeated, halting three shots to preserve the clean sheet.
