GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team fell to the host Panthers from Adelphi University on Saturday, 1-0.
The Hawks remain without a victory in six matches to date while Adelphi moves to 4-2-1 overall and to 3-1 within the Northeast-10 Conference. Saint Anselm has dropped all four of its league tilts of the 2018 season.
Adelphi controlled play throughout the game, building up a 25-4 advantage in shots throughout the affair. The Panthers finally broke through with a goal from James Thristino at 72:17 which held up as the game-winning goal, set up by Patrick Guier with a chip pass.
Senior Jacob Rostkowski (Rockport, Mass.) equaled a career-high with nine saves against the Adelphi attack, picking up the loss between the posts. Matt Apicella made two saves for the Panthers, earning the shutout victory.
Saint Anselm travels to Franklin Pierce this Tuesday, Sept. 25 for a 7 p.m. game under the lights in Rindge, N.H.
