MANCHESTER, N.H. – Filippo Bellu scored 43 seconds into the first overtime to give the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights a 1-0 victory over the Saint Anselm College men's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon
The Hawks fall to 6-5 on the year, 2-5 against Northeast 10 opponents while Saint Rose improves to 8-2-1 on the season, 4-1-1 in conference play.
After a scoreless 90 minutes of play, Harry Soederlind of Saint Rose drove up the right side of the field and sent a cross into the box for Bellu to one-touch the pass into the back of the net.
Freshman Kyle White (Danvers, Mass.) had one of the Hawks best scoring chances in the 69th minute, receiving a cross that he fired on net, but was denied by the Saint Rose goalkeeper.
Despite not finding the twine, the Hawks rifled off 24 shots compared to just 10 from the Golden Knigts. Saint Anselm posted 16 of its 24 shots in the second half.
Rostkowski tallied three saves while Ryan Henning of Saint Rose earned his eighth win of the season, notching five saves.
The Hawks look to get back in the win column when they travel to Southern Conn. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
