KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Senior Benji Page and junior Daniel Kmetz combined for all three points for the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team in a 6-3 loss to Roosevelt University on Friday afternoon at Oak Street Park Community Center.
Kmetz won a length three-setter at No. 4 singles, Page did not lose a game at No. 6 singles and the pair teamed for a victory at No. 3 doubles for Saint Anselm (1-9), which was playing its third match two days. Roosevelt (5-2) recorded four straight-set singles wins and was victorious at the top-two doubles flights.
Kmetz and Page improved their record to 3-1 as a doubles pair courtesy of an 8-5 victory at third doubles. The Lakers took a 2-1 lead into singles after posting 8-1 and 8-4 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights.
Page raced through his singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0 for his fourth win in the last five matches, but Roosevelt sealed the victory by taking the next five singles matches. In the lone match to go the distance, Kmetz bounced back from dropping the second set to win the super tiebreak by a 10-2 score for a 6-3, 2-6, 10-2 victory. It was Kmetz's fourth super tiebreak in the last six matches and each of his last six matches have included either a regular tiebreak or a super tiebreak.
Saint Anselm plays ASA Miami at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 at Lake Cane Tennis Center.
