MIDDLETON, Mass. – In its first match since returning to the Northeast, the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team fell 9-0 to Merrimack College in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Saturday at Northeast Tennis Center.
Merrimack (7-4, 3-0 NE10) continued its unbeaten start in the NE10 by dropping three games in the three doubles matches and picking up four straight-set singles victories against Saint Anselm (1-10, 0-4 NE10). The No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches were played as eight-game pro sets with the team result decided.
In the last match of the evening, Benji Page saw his two-match winning streak at No. 6 singles come to an end after Paul Weidinger edged the senior in a tiebreak, 9-8 (8-6). Classmate Kyle Harris picked up four games in his pro set against Tyler Clontz at No. 5 singles, while Adam Weinstein won five games at No. 2 singles against Denis Davydov, going down 6-2, 6-3.
Saint Anselm hosts NE10 foe Le Moyne on Saturday, Mar. 24 at 3:30 p.m.
