Men's tennis falls to Southern N.H., 7-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm men's tennis team lost to Southern New Hampshire University, 7-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action from the South Athletic Field Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.


The Hawks fall to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in league play while the Penmen improve to 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in NE10 action.

At the top singles flight, freshman Ethan Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) battled Tiago Fernandes, but was defeated 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Sam Kluger (Nashua, N.H.) dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 3 singles. At the fifth singles flight, freshman Richard Flandreau (New Fairfield, Conn.) played strong in the opening set of his match, before falling 6-4, 6-0.

At No. 2 doubles, senior Daniel Kmetz (Amston, Conn.) and Kluger battled Ricardo Marreiros and Miguel Marreiros. However, the duo fell to the Penmen brothers, 6-3.

The Hawks wrap up the fall portion of their schedule with a 1 p.m. NE10 tilt on Sunday, Oct. 21 against Franklin Pierce University at the South Athletic Field Courts.
